Dr Scott Davidson

Medical Director

Biography

Dr Scott Davidson was appointed Medical Director of Greater Glasgow and Clyde in October 2024.

Scott qualified in Medicine from the University of Aberdeen in 1994 before moving to continue his training in Glasgow.  He undertook a period of research in Lung Cancer, achieving an MD through the Cancer Research UK Beatson Laboratories. He then went on to join the West of Scotland training scheme for General Internal and Respiratory Medicine, working with many inspirational clinical leaders throughout his research and training.  Scott is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians in Glasgow and the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.

He was appointed as a Consultant Respiratory Physician at the Southern General Hospital in 2006. There, he helped to develop the Lung Cancer service, and became Lead Clinician for medicine, before moving to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital when it opened in 2015. There he specialised in the home ventilation of patients with neuromuscular disease, leading the service until 2020.

Scott was the Clinical Director for medical services in the QEUH shortly after it opened, before becoming the South sector Chief of Medicine.  He was appointed Deputy Medical Director for Acute services in 2019, remaining in this role until becoming Board Medical Director.

Dr Scott Davidson has a wealth of experience and a proven track record of clinical leadership. This was achieved locally through his clinical services, the pandemic, and leading transformational change both locally and nationally through the redesign of urgent care programmes.
