Biography
Graham Haddock worked as a Consultant Neonatal & Paediatric Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow until December 2019, when he retired from clinical practice.
He has had a long career in medical education at UK and Scottish level, having chaired the UK Specialist Advisory Committee in Paediatric Surgery, and the Scottish Surgical Specialties Training Board at NHS Education for Scotland.
Graham currently chairs the National Endoscopy Training Programme Board at the NHS Scotland Academy. He is aware of the current challenges facing the NHS in Scotland, particularly in surgery, child health and medical education.
As an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Glasgow Medical School, he led their undergraduate admissions team for five years, and remains as an active member of their Fitness to Practice, Progress and Honorary Status Committees.
He has been a lifelong member of the Scouts. He was Chief Commissioner for Scotland for seven years and is currently a Trustee of the Scout Association at UK level. Graham is a volunteer member of the Children’s Hearing System in Scotland.
Graham Haddock was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours list for services to young people.
