Speech and Language Therapy healthcare support worker Leigh McKnight works with dementia patients and those who struggle to communicate after a stroke to create autobiographical ‘life story’ books.The books act as a fact file with details of a person’s background, interests and the people and things that are important to them. They can help spark memories and prompt conversations with friends and family, as well as health and care workers.Leigh is based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, and the service is provided by a number of Speech and Language Therapy healthcare support workers at sites across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. LGBTQ+ colleagues from the @NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and NHS Golden Jubilee Boards joined forces for a second year to host the LGBTQ+ Leadership Event.
