The Christmas cheer has well and truly arrived at the Vale of Leven Hospital thanks to a performance from the Salvation Army.

Members of the Salvation Army visited the hospital last week, bringing live music to patients and staff. They went to several wards, including Katrine, Fruin, and Lomond.

Morven Cowie, Senior Charge Nurse at the Vale of Leven Hospital, said: “The feedback from the patients and staff was that it was delightful and lifted spirits. We would welcome them back anytime and thank them for taking the time to come and see us all.”

Melanie McColgan, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Clyde sector Director, said: “We were thrilled to welcome The Salvation Army choir to Vale of Leven Hospital. Having live music to bring the festive cheer as Christmas approaches was wonderful.

“Being in hospital during this time of year can be difficult for patients, and winter puts additional pressure on our staff and services. It was lovely for all to take this opportunity to enjoy something that brings people together.”

NHSGGC is also reiterating the importance of patients getting the right care in the right place.

People will only be referred to the Vale of Leven Hospital’s Medical Assessment Unit by their GP or by calling NHS 24 on 111. They may also be brought to the Unit by ambulance.

Those who arrive without an appointment may be redirected to another service, which could have been arranged for them earlier if they had contacted their GP or NHS 24 in advance.
