Services

Community Paediatric Physiotherapy

The Community Paediatric Physiotherapy services offers triage, assessment and treatment for children form 0-18 years with a wide range of conditions. These include Cerebral Palsy, Spina bifida, Developmental Delay, Muscular-dystrophy, co-ordination difficulties after injuries and many more.

The service is delivered into Child Development centres, Special Schools, Mainstream Schools and Nurseries as well as in the child’s home. The service offers regular advice, treatment programmes and therapy.

Referrals are accepted from all Allied Health Professionals which include Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists etc as well as GP’s and other medical personnel including Specialists Health Visitors within the CDC’s

Early Intervention Psychological Services

The service aims to promote resiliency in children and parents through intervening early and preventing mental health problems becoming entrenched.

This service offers psychological advice/support for a range of early stage psychological problems such as behaviour management, anxiety/phobias, and Developmental Delay. Referrals are accepted for children up to age 12 years made by any professional within the childcare community including GP’s, Health Visitors, School Health Service, Child Development Teams, Social Work, Psychological Services and Education.

Paediatric Occupational Therapy

The Occupational Therapist aims to encourage the child to do as much as possible for him/herself. Occupational Therapy offer a range of services including Peripatetic Team based within the Child Development Centres which offers a generic service of assessment, advice and intervention as appropriate to children and young people between birth and 18 years of age

Referral will depend on the professional in contact with the child or family and the place in which the child has been identified as needing support from this service.

Speech and Language Therapy

Speech and Language Therapy offer a range of services including an Acute Service in wards, Pre Five Services in Child Development Centre’s, School Services in Mainstream and Special Schools, Autistic Spectrum Disorder Service, Dysfluency Team, Bi Lingual Team, Hearing Impairment and Visual Impairment Teams and Dual Sensory Impairment Team.

Referrals are taken from birth and come from a range of sources including Health visitors, General Practioner’s, Education Staff, Paediatricians, Hearing Screening Services and families. This will depend on the professional in contact with the child or family and the place in which the child has been identified as needing support from this service.
