The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre welcomed the Lord Provost of Glasgow Councillor Jacqueline McLaren on a visit in her role as Honorary President of the Beatson Cancer Charity this week.
She was greeted on behalf of NHSGGC by Regional Services Director Susan Groom and Beatson WoSCC General Manager Liane McGrath and after a tour of the charity’s Wellbeing Centre, the Lord Provost met Lead Nurse Alyson McArdle at Clinical Haematology Ward B7 and was also shown round Ward B8, the location of the new Ambulatory Care Unit which is currently under development.
The Lord Provost was then taken round the main Outpatient area by Specialist Oncology Services Lead Nurse Nicky Donnelly, where she was able to see the day-to-day work of the clinical teams at the Beatson WoSCC.
Councillor McLaren said: “I’m absolutely blown away by the patient care.”
Beatson WoSCC General Manager Liane McGrath said: “It’s always good that the staff here get recognition for what they do on a daily basis as try to offer the best treatment possible for all our patients.”
