Inverclyde Royal Hospital is adding to its nursing team, with a recruitment fair taking place this week.
The IRH was recognised for its commitment to staff, after being accredited by Investors in People in December last year.
Recognised in over 66 countries, IiP is the global benchmark when it comes to assessing great places to work. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde aims for all staff to be able to give and receive the best at their work, while being involved in making positive changes and improvements and these new roles reflect this approach.
Those interested in applying for these new nursing positions, or any other existing opportunities at the IRH, are invited to attend one of two sessions on Thursday February 24 at the IRH.
The first session will take place at the IRH’s Lecture Theatre in the Education Centre at 1.30pm until 3.30pm, with the second sessions being held in the William Quarrier Room at the Larkfield Unit between 7pm and 9pm.
Yvonne McDowall, Clinical Service Manager at the IRH said: “Here at IRH we recognise that the demands on nursing teams have been quite significant throughout the pandemic, that’s why it’s now the right time for us to be thinking seriously about the needs of our people.
“We’ve been holding local staff forums, listening to ideas and suggestions from our team and working closely with our local Practise Development Team to come up with effective on boarding and development programmes that will deliver positive outcomes for our new recruits.”
The IRH is a significant employer in Inverclyde and the Recruitment Fair will allow those interested in nursing to chat about any existing vacancies, learn more about the IRH from experienced staff and even interview for roles on the day.
Senior Charge Nurse, Fiona McGinley started her career at the IRH in 2001, working in a medical ward for a short while, before moving into orthopaedic wards, while raising her family.
She is now focused on career development, with the IRH providing the perfect place to learn new skills. Fiona recently led the Winter Ward Team, which deals with peak demand on services.
Fiona said: “I have loved the opportunity to take on fresh challenges and learn new skills from lead nurses. The support I have received from the IRH team has been amazing, it’s such a brilliant place to work and learn.”
Melanie McColgan, NHSGGC’S Director for Clyde, added: “These new roles underline and reflect the commitment we have made to our workforce at Inverclyde Royal Hospital to allow them to get the best out of their working environment, enhance their skills and develop their careers.
“We have such a great community spirit amongst staff at the IRH and we look forward to welcoming the successful applicants to the team.”
