Our test and protect service has identified a further positive case of COVID-19 in North East Glasgow, connected to Bannerman High School.
Whilst there is no indication this further infection occurred in the school, the pupil did attend school last week. The pupil is not causing clinical concern.
A Problem Assessment Group (PAG) has met this evening and systematically established a list of contacts this pupil had including while in school.
Test and protect staff have started to contact those identified as well as the parents of any of contacts who are pupils. The contacts are all being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice.
At this time and to respect and maintain patient confidentiality no further details will be released.
NHSGGC’s Dr Daniel Carter, who led the PAG said: “We would like to reiterate to local people and businesses that this cluster of cases of COVID-19 is being thoroughly investigated and managed by the NHSGGC Public Health Protection Team.
“To control the spread of the virus it is essential that any one contacted by test and protect follows the directions given by our contact tracing team, including self-isolation. Anyone who may have been exposed to this case is being given appropriate advice.
“We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the importance of continuing with the general measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19 to themselves and to others. These include social distancing, regular handwashing, and being vigilant for symptoms. Anyone with symptoms should immediately self-isolate and seek a test.”
