NHSGGC lights up blue and yellow in support for Ukraine

  • 2 min read

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has lit up the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) and Glasgow Royal Infirmary blue and yellow in support for the people of Ukraine.

NHSGGC joins a number of organisations which have also taken part in the symbolic gesture. The buildings will remain lit this way for the coming days.

Staff have also arranged for a drop-off point at the QEUH for any of their colleagues wishing to donate much needed provisions for Ukrainian refugees fleeing their country. The donations will be picked up by transport heading to Poland in coming weeks.

Anne MacPherson, Director of Human Resource and Organisational Development, Human Resources at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said:  “NHSGGC has a number of staff working with us who are from Ukraine and the surrounding countries, many of whom have friends and loved ones still living in the region, it is our priority to ensure they are receiving the support they need during such a difficult time.

“The lighting up of our buildings is a small gesture that came as suggestion from a member of staff working on the Queen Elizabeth campus and has been carried out to show solidarity with all those impacted in the region.

“The donation drop-off point, which has been organised by our staff and Trade Union colleagues, is a great initiative and shows the compassion felt by our colleagues from right across NHSGGC.”
