A Paisley teenager who was born with a rare condition has thanked staff in the renal ward at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) by raising a substantial amount of money in just three weeks.
19 year old Lucas Webster was born with chronic kidney disease and during lockdown had to start dialysis at the QEUH. He also had several admissions during this time to the renal wards at QEUH and is so grateful to all the staff who supported him during a very difficult time.
Lucas’s mum, Sandra said: “Lucas has such a generous nature and wanted to give something back to the staff who cared for him when he was undergoing dialysis and on the occasions he was admitted.
“With the help of a friend he set up a Just Giving Page using social media and raised the amazing sum of £630 in just three weeks. I am so proud of him and his achievements.”
Lucas has split the money he raised with half going to the renal wards at the QEUH and half he donated to Kidney Care UK who have been helping him and other children like him for a long time.
Sandra added: “It has been a difficult time for Lucas but he got so much joy seeing how many people donated. He is grateful for their kindness. Watch this space as Lucas hopes to help other charities and says thank you to all the NHS staff who continue to support him.”
