Royal Hospital for Children says May the Fourth be with you

The Royal Hospital for Children was the centre of the galaxy as heroes and villains of Star Wars paid a visit.

Young patients – as well as parents and staff – were thrilled as Darth Vader and Pilot Mauler and Stormtrooper Tee-Kay Fisto along with Saltar the Wookie and Jedi Master Macca Starkno did the rounds of the wards to mark May the 4th, the international Star Wars day.

The visit was organised by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and the members of the Imperial Scottish Garrison.

Royal Hospital for Children Director Jamie Redfern said: “It’s always a pleasure to welcome visitors like this to the hospital.

“Our patients look forward to events like this and they can often be a real boost to their recovery.”

Kirsten Watson, Chief Executive at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We’re thrilled to support another exciting visit at the children’s hospital and we’d like to say a massive thank you to the Imperial Scottish Garrison Troopers for bringing so much joy to Star Wars fans at the hospital.

“It’s thanks to visits like these that, over 20 years on, Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity continues to provide experiences like these for children, their families and the NHS heroes who care for them in hospital.”
