Course overview
The training provides a structured evidence based approach to communication skills. This interactive day is facilitated by experienced trainers in communication and will include a variety of teaching techniques for example, scenario based group work, DVD skills exercises and interactive discussion.
Participants are asked to bring examples of communication challenges, share their own experiences and explore the way the models and techniques used in the training will help improve practice.
Learning outcomes
- By the end of the course delegates will have:
- An awareness of the potential barriers to good communication
- An understanding of how good facilitative communication skills achieve positive outcomes
- Experience of using communication skills models to achieve effective person-centred conversations
- An action plan that will enable them to transfer their learning into practice

All Registered Nurses, AHPs (experienced band 5 and above) and Doctors who are involved in complex/difficult/necessary conversations with patients and families.
