  • 1 min read

April is Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Awareness Month.

Every year, the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre sees around 80 new referrals to its Teenage and Young Adult Unit, which provides specialist care tailored to the unique needs of young people aged 16-25.

In the video above, Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist Aidan MacDonald explains some of the main signs and symptoms of cancers in teenagers and young people, and the importance of people getting checked if they have any concerns. These are:

  • Significant unexplained weight loss
  • Lumps, bumps and swellings
  • Persistent pain anywhere in the body
  • Mole changes
  • Unexplained tiredness and fatigue
