Our test and protect service has identified a further three positive cases in North East Glasgow.
This bring the total to 11 positive cases. Whilst a number of the cases are pupils at Bannerman High School in Baillieston, there is no indication any transmission has occurred in the school.
None of the cases are causing any clinical concern. The school re-opened yesterday but none of the pupils have actually attended as they are self-isolating at home.
Test and protect staff have continued to contact anyone who may be affected and close contacts are being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice.
To control the spread of the virus it is essential that any one contacted by test and protect follows the directions given by our contact tracing team, including self-isolation.
At this time to respect and maintain patient confidentiality no further details will be released.
Health and local environmental health staff are working closely with the school and a number of other local businesses to contact trace any further close contacts of the cases and appropriate advice is being advice given to these individuals.
Dr Linda de Caestecker, Director of Public Health, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde said: “We would like to reiterate to local people and businesses that this cluster of cases of COVID-19 is being thoroughly investigated and managed by the NHSGGC Public Health Protection Team.
“To maintain patient confidentiality we are unable to give any further information on the cases. Each of these cases is being managed and followed up in detail, and all of them are isolating at home.
“All settings that these cases attended during their infectious period are being identified through the test and protect service and are assessed and supported with control measures. Anyone who may have been exposed to these cases is being given appropriate advice but want to remind people to stay off school or work and get tested if they experience any symptoms.”
