This week has seen a raft of awards presented to individual staff, specialist teams and new buildings across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of our staff, and the outstanding designs of some of our new healthcare buildings which are changing the landscape of Glasgow.
In the Health Facilities Scotland Awards, whichrecognise quality and best practice amongst facilities teams throughout NHS Scotland, NHSGGC has scooped an impressive four awards, including the ultimate accolade which went to the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital which won the Paul Taylor Award. This award recognises the best overall entry.
We also won the Sustainability Excellence Award for the successful implementation of Corporate Greencode; the Facilities Innovation Award for our Improving Mealtimes Experience Care Bundle, and the Design Excellence Award for the new Shield Health and Care Centre.
Jim Leiper, Strategic Facilities Director, Health Facilities Scotland, said: “The Health Facilities Scotland Awards recognise quality and best practice amongst facilities teams throughout NHS Scotland.
“I’d like to congratulate NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde on its success today. In particular the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital development which won the Paul Taylor Award.
“The building is a prime example of design excellence and innovation, concentrating numerous services to one site.”
At the national Scottish Health Awards four individual members of our staff won awards.
Dr Joyce Davidson was recognised for her services to women and children, Pamela MacIntyre won the Leading and Managing for the Quality Award, Professor Richard Welbury scooped the Dentist Award and last but not least Dr Kevin Rooney took home the top Doctor Award.
Finally, West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership ran away with the Herald Society’s Health and Social Care Integration Award for their Palliative Care Programme which brings together district nursing, home care, pharmacy and older people’s residential care services.
