Mums to be in Greater Glasgow and Clyde are being encouraged to download an app which aims to make their pregnancy go with a swing.
The Badger Notes App is available to all women and is designed to keep all information relating to their pregnancy, as well as general advice, in one place.
NHSGGC Digital Midwife Gwen Barr said: “Like most of us, pregnant women spend a lot of time on their phones, so it make perfect sense for them to have access to all the information they need there at their fingertips.
“Not only does it save them from carrying bundles of notes to every antenatal appointment, it also means they have real time access to their maternity records and the ability to access trusted, verified pregnancy information whenever they want to.
“The information that appears is generated from our hospital based system using details entered by midwives or other health professionals involved in maternity care. All information is held securely and cannot be accessed without the appropriate login details.
“The feedback we have had from women has been really positive and the uptake has been really impressive. Women can sign up to the Badger Notes app at any time during pregnancy, all they have to do is talk to their midwife and it can be arranged.”
Women can sign up to that app at any time during their pregnancy – midwives can now all provide access to the app at any point.
Amy Willis (31) from the East End has tried the app and is impressed. Her first baby is due in January.
Amy said: “We are thrilled to be expecting our first baby and our care at the Princess Royal has been great. I have found the app really handy and easy to use.
“As well as my specific notes, there are contacts for the midwives and the rest of my care team. It’s good to know all the information is from a trusted source and there is space for a pregnancy diary for me to fill in. Having all this in one place and on my phone is a great idea and I would have no hesitation in recommending it.
“It also cuts down on paper, so it’s good for the environment too!”
