NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is running a drop-in vaccination bus for secondary-school-aged children that have missed receiving their Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccination and pre-school-aged children that have missed any of their routine childhood vaccines.
The bus will visit three locations next week on the 8th, 11th, and 12th of July 2024.
Parents and carers of the children who have missed vaccines are encouraged to bring their child to the bus locations to receive the immunisations and ensure that their protection is maximised ahead of the new nursery and school year commencing in August.

Measles, mumps, and rubella are highly infectious diseases that can cause serious medical complications, including life threating complications in some people.
The routine pre-school vaccinations include:
- The 6-in-1 vaccine which includes pertussis (whooping cough), diphtheria, tetanus, polio, Haemophilus type b (Hib), and hepatitis b.
- Meningitis B
- Rotavirus
- Pneumococcal
- Hib Men C
- MMR
- The 4-in-1 vaccine which includes pertussis (whooping cough), diphtheria, tetanus, and polio
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Director of Public Health, Dr Emilia Crighton explained why people should attend the drop-ins.
“It is understandable that, with illness and other events that happen due to everyday family life, routine vaccine appointments may have been missed or forgotten. Life happens. That’s why we are urging parents who are unsure if their child is vaccinated against any of the conditions above to contact their GP to find out. If they are not, they can attend one of the drop-ins and have the vaccine that day.
“It is also important to highlight that cases of whooping cough (pertussis) are appearing in higher numbers across the United Kingdom right now, making the need to maximise protection even more important,” she said.
