Janey Lennon is a Prescribing Support Pharmacist, based in a Glasgow GP practice.
What does a Prescribing Support Pharmacist do?
A Prescribing Support Pharmacist is located inside of a GP practice. They collaborate closely with GPs, practice nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive the best possible medication care and guidance.
How can they help you?
If you have any questions about your medication or feel like you need to alter it in any way, request a medication review via your community pharmacist or via your GP practice.
The PSP can review your prescription and make amends to best suit your needs. They can also provide advice and support about switching medication or alternative therapies.
If you’re on medication for a long-term condition such as a chronic disease, your PSP will ensure that the medication is optimised to its full potential and not conflicting with others you may have to take.
PSPs also ensure your medication records are accurate when your admitted to hospital or transferred to another care setting.
How can you speak to a Prescribing Support Pharmacist?
You can make an appointment via your local GP practice reception or via your community pharmacist.
