‘Take care on our sites’ – reminder to people visiting NHSGGC facilities

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has issued an appeal reminding visitors to its hospitals and healthcare sites to take care when driving or walking.

The health board cares for a core population of more than 1.3 million people at nine main hospitalsand dozens more healthcare facilities, and every day tens of thousands of people come on to our sites, to work, for appointments and to visit friends or relatives.

Some of our hospitals are in parkland or semi-rural settings, and hundreds more visit these sites to relax, stroll around or walk their dog.

But Fiona Roche, Greenspace Officer with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, reminded people that all our sites are busy working environments and people should take care when visiting them.

She said: “The last few days have seem some fantastic weather, and in the sunshine people often like to slow down, switch off a little and enjoy the outdoors.

“Many NHSGGC sites offer a range of outdoor facilities, including gardens, parkland, outdoor artworks, walkways and cycleways, and we always welcome visitors who like to go for a stroll, walk their dog, meet friends or simply take some time to relax.

“But we would ask everyone to remember that all our sites are incredibly busy, with people coming and going all the time – and in some cases emergency vehicles taking patients to get the care they urgently need.

“If you use our sites – whether driving or on foot – please remember to take a little extra care when crossing roads or just passing through, to ensure you’re aware of potential hazards around you.

“We would also like to remind dog walkers that their pets should be kept on a lead at all times while visiting our sites, for reasons of safety and for the benefit of patients, staff and other visitors.”
